In a separate bowl, dissolve growing medium in 2¼ cups of warm water, fluff with fork, and place into pot. Sow tomato and cilantro seeds ¼” deep and lightly cover with growing medium. Tip: sow each variety in a separate section. Place in a warm, bright location with ample air circulation; keep growing medium moist but not overwatered. Sprouting time: tomato: 7-14 days, cilantro: 14-21 days. After seedlings develop their second set of leaves, water with balanced plant fertilizer mixed at half-strength once a month.

To add drainage and keep roots happy, simply drill a small hole in the bottom of your windowsill planter.
